John Jay’s ‘Big Four’ helps Mustangs gallop away from competition

The TABC ranked John Jay as the No. 11 team in Texas

SAN ANTONIO – John Jay High School’s boys basketball team, led by head coach Chaun Brooks, is enjoying a remarkable season.

Entering Friday, the team boasts a 23-2 overall record and is ranked No. 11 in the state, according to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Led by its seven seniors, the Mustangs have made hard work, a positive attitude and unselfish play important parts of their identity.

Some of John Jay’s top players, referred to as the “Big Four,” expressed their satisfaction with the team dynamic. They said they wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Big Four are: senior point guard Jarrius Jackson Jr. (19.0 points per game), senior shooting guard Jaidin Guillen (18.4 ppg), senior center Zachariah Linson (16.2 ppg) and senior point guard Camrin Garza (12.5 ppg).

This season, those four players combine for 66.1 of the Mustangs' 77.5 points per game.
