Authorities ID man, store employee shot and killed during dispute at NW Side cellphone repair shop

Kenneth Mark McKnight Jr. and Cody Bell were pronounced dead at the scene

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified both men who police said were fatally shot during an altercation inside a Northwest Side cellphone repair shop.

Kenneth Mark McKnight, Jr., 47, and Cody Bell, 35, were pronounced dead at the store, according to the ME’s office.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 11800 block of Bandera Road, not far from Loop 1604.

Police said McKnight entered the business unsatisfied with the service done to his phone and confronted Bell, an employee at the store.

A verbal argument between McKnight and Bell became physical when McKnight assaulted Bell, police said.

McKnight pulled out a gun and shot Bell, according to police. Bell died at the scene.

In self-defense, another employee at the business pulled out his firearm and shot McKnight, police said.

McKnight died at the scene.

Police said the employee who shot McKnight was cooperating with officers.
