Father of teen shot, killed in targeted East Side attack hopes son’s story will save lives

Brison Jackson, 17, was shot and killed last week near a TA Travel Center on the East Side

SAN ANTONIO – A grieving father told KSAT he hopes his son’s death will serve as a warning for others.

Brison Jackson, 17, was shot and killed last week on the East Side near a TA Travel Center off Interstate 10 and North Foster Road. San Antonio police said the shooting appeared to be a targeted attack.

Authorities said Brison was shot multiple times. Investigators found approximately 70 shell casings on the scene from various types of guns.

Brison’s father, Brian, said he didn’t know why his son was being targeted.

“I hate that this is so common,” Brian Jackson said. “This is the reality of what that world has for you ... the streets beat me.”

Jackson said he remembers his son for his individuality.

“Brison wanted to be Brison,” Jackson said. He was “vibrant, full of life, and a smooth talker,” his father said.

Jackson said Brison’s death is a stark reminder of what some young people face in San Antonio.

He wants parents and young people to take his son’s story to heart.

“I want him to be remembered so it can save somebody else’s life,” Jackson said. “I don’t want the next youngster to go down the same road.”

The investigation into Brison’s death is ongoing.
