A now-former pastry chef at the restaurant announced the closure on Wednesday in a Facebook group called “San Antonio Restaurants.”

“Our restaurant went out of business and cleaning things out (sic) so we have a few items for sale,” the post stated.

While the French-style restaurant may still appear “open” on search engines such as Google, KSAT called, visited and confirmed the closure of the Broadway location on Thursday.

According to a now-deactivated online page, the Broadway location was the chain’s first to open in the San Antonio area.

Only four La Madeleine locations remain in and around the San Antonio area: the Park North Shopping Center, near Oakland Estates off Interstate 10, the Northwoods Shopping Center off U.S. Highway 281 and in Schertz.

In 2024, San Antonio said goodbye to several restaurants. Some businesses have struggled to stay afloat due to high food, construction or rent costs.

Dignowity Meats, an East Side staple, closed its doors on Monday at the cusp of last year’s end.

For La Madeleine, the Facebook post stated that the Broadway restaurant went out of business.
