Authorities ID woman, child killed after being hit by vehicle on North Side; driver arrested

Marlon Daniels charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter

SAN ANTONIO – A woman and her child who were fatally hit by a vehicle while walking on the North Side have been identified and a driver has been arrested.

San Antonio police said Marlon Daniels, 56, crashed his Audi Q50 into Vanessa Ramos, 39, and Solumen Lopez, 5, on Wednesday night in the 20500 block of Stone Oak Parkway.

Ramos and Lopez, who was in a stroller, were on the south sidewalk of Stoke Oak Parkway when the Audi jumped a curb and crashed into a utility pole.

Police said the Audi continued down the sidewalk and struck Ramos and Lopez. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Daniels was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash and was found to be intoxicated.

He was arrested on two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
