STORM CHANCE: Strong storms possible east of I-35 after 8 p.m. Christmas Eve

Storms clear out by Christmas Morning

FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS:

  • STORMS TONIGHT: A few storms, some strong, possible east of I-35 from 8 p.m. - 2 a.m.
  • CHRISTMAS DAY: Dry with lower humidity, highs near 70°
  • THURSDAY: Another hit-or-miss rain chance
  • WARMING UP: Highs well above average, upper-70s for the final days of 2024

CHRISTMAS EVE:

After a relatively gray and humid day in San Antonio, a storm chance returns to the forecast tonight as a weak front moves through.

Best chance for storms resides in areas along and east of the I-35 corridor between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. A few storms could become strong-to-severe, with strong winds, hail, lightning, and heavy rainfall the main concerns to monitor.

CHRISTMAS DAY:

Any rain moves out by sunrise Christmas Morning as slightly drier air pumps in. Expect a quieter and dry day, with highs near 70° and more afternoon sunshine.

A drier and quiet Christmas Day expected

LOOKING AHEAD:

Another surge of humidity quickly returns by Thursday, leading to some areas of patchy morning fog and drizzle. As a disturbance pushes across the state, spotty showers and a few storms will then be possible, mainly through the early afternoon.

After that, rain chances are pretty much out of the forecast for the remainder of the year as high temperatures climb into the unseasonably warm upper-70s to round out 2024.

More updates to come! And don’t worry - we’re keeping Santa informed on the storm chance tonight!

7 day forecast as of 12/24/24.
