CIBOLO, Texas – (UPDATE at 9:19 PM): Donetta Roberts is the projected winner in the runoff election race for Place 6 on the Cibolo City Council.
Roberts currently leads Charles Ruppert by 33 percentage points.

Neither candidate earned enough votes in the Nov. 5 election. Therefore, a runoff election between Roberts and Ruppert was set to determine who would fill the Place 6 seat.
BACKGROUND: Roberts, an escrow officer — according to her candidate application — received 33% of the vote last month. Ruppert, who served as Cibolo’s mayor from 2001 to 2005, came in second at 27%.
Both results were far short of the 50%-plus-one necessary to win the seat outright. Two other council members, Malcom MacLauchlan and incumbent Dick Hetzel, earned 26% and 14% of the vote, respectively.
The Place 6 seat is an at-large seat, which means every registered voter in Cibolo can cast their ballot in Saturday’s runoff.
