Presale of Spurs Fiesta medal begins Tuesday at noon
SAN ANTONIO โ Spurs Give, the San Antonio Spursโ non-profit, has unveiled the organizationโs 2021 collectible Fiesta medal, a press release said Tuesday. Preorders begin at noon and run through Tuesday, Feb. 2, exclusively through the teamโs gift shop. The medals cost $10 each and proceeds go to San Antonioโs youth through Spurs Give. The medal is crafted after the new 2020-21 City Edition Fiesta Jersey, showcasing the Spurs Fiesta colors to celebrate the season, the press release said. The medals will also go on-sale at a later date while supplies last.
Spurs Give working hard to give back to community, has big plans ahead
SAN ANTONIO โ This past year San Antonioโs community has needed a lot of help and Spurs Give has answered the call. The charity organization has stayed busy and has big plans ahead. The organization however, depends on contributions from fans and community members to make an impact. The Spurs Give organization also focuses regularly on the youth of the Alamo City and its basketball roots with the help of the Spurs Sports Academy in hosting virtual basketball skill camps. San Antonio students can score prizes with Spurs Whatโcha Reading Program
SAN ANTONIO โ Teachers in San Antonio and the surrounding areas can now register their classes as part of this yearโs Spurs Whatโcha Reading program, which will take place starting Oct. 19, a press release said. The reading and literacy program is for students in first through fifth grade and is designed to encourage students of all reading levels to expand their reading abilities. โIn the more than 20 years that Whataburger has partnered with the Spurs to support the Whatโcha Reading program, itโs been such a joy to see so many children develop a love of reading,โ said Whataburger Sponsorship Director Jeff Altman. In partnership with the Spurs Whatโcha Reading Program, the San Antonio Public Libraries have created a monthly curated list of free downloadable books, available by clicking here. Spurs Give offering new 3-week basketball-inspired coding course for kids
SAN ANTONIO After a successful launch of its initial course in June, Spurs Give has announced that they are offering an additional 3-week basketball-inspired coding program aimed to help kids learn and advance their computer skills, a press release said. The new course starts Monday and is available in both English and Spanish for children ages five-and-up. Students will explore loops, variables and conditionals as they program the Coyotes dunking contest on the Spurs home-court, the press release said. Course Schedule:Aug. 3-7: Lesson 1 - Basic DunkStudents will learn how to make the Coyote dribble and dunk from half-court while the crowd cheers. KSAT Community partners with SA Food Bank, Spurs Give to help feed families during summer
SAN ANTONIO Help ensure kids are well-nourished this summer. KSAT Community is partnering with the San Antonio Food Bank in the Spurs Cafe - Spurs Give Together Fund" as the need for food assistance continues to grow in San Antonio amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In May, Spurs Give and The Tim Duncan Foundation matched donations of $200,000 to the San Antonio Food Bank as part of the new Spurs Caf initiative. Spurs Cafe is a new initiative to utilize restaurants to prepare meals to those in need in San Antonio. The economic crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic has brought more than a hundred thousand new individuals to the brink of hunger," Eric S. Cooper, President and CEO, San Antonio Food Bank.
Robinsons team up for big assist to Spurs Give
SAN ANTONIO โ David Robinson Jr. has grown up before our eyes. His proud father, โThe Admiralโ David Robinson, carried him around the Hemisfair Arena back in 1998. Now, 22 years later, the two are teaming up with the charitable arm of the Spurs organization -- Spurs Give -- to help the city of San Antonio recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. โThe Spurs are in a unique position to really bring people together," David Jr. said.
