With a storm headed for Florida, and hurricane season about to hit it's peak, Red Cross volunteers are ready to be deployed. KSAT got to sit in on a training, watched volunteers check their supplies, and went to the warehouse to see the pallets all loaded up and ready.

Seguin couple displaced, several pets killed in RV park fire, firefighters say
SEGUIN, TEXAS โ Susan Pargeter has lived at the Young Creek RV Park for several years. The neighborhood is located in the 4800 block of FM 467 in Seguin. Pargeter described it as a place where neighbors look out for one another, but she never imagined she would be without a home. Other fire crews from Seguin and Wilson County assisted in the response and they were able to extinguish the flames fairly quickly. Both of the travel trailers are considered a total loss, according to fire officials, and damages are estimated to be over $20,000.
Family displaced, dog killed following house fire on West Side, firefighters say
SAN ANTONIO โ A man and his three grandkids are displaced and their dog is deceased after a fire broke out at their West Side home, according to San Antonio Fire Department. Firefighters said the family was alerted of the fire from a passerby who saw the flames coming from a structure behind the house. The family evacuated safely as firefighters made their way behind the home to extinguish the flames, according to officials. No injuries to the family or firefighters were reported; however, fire officials did attempt to resuscitate the familyโs dog. The Red Cross is assisting the family in finding them a new place to stay for the time being.
Belgium fears ICU beds could reach capacity next month

The latest COVID-19 figures published Wednesday by the national institute of public health show that Belgium has seen 7,360 new coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours. Van Laethem said the country is currently the second-worst in Europe in terms of new coronavirus infections, behind the Czech Republic.
Apartment fire on Northeast Side of San Antonio displaces 63 residents
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio firefighters spent two hours Thursday afternoon battling an apartment fire on the cityโs Northeast Side that officials said left 63 residents without a place to call home. And Iโm thankful for that," said Ousman Hosein, one of the residents displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents find a temporary place to stay. Some residents believe the fire may have been caused by a barbecue grill on a balcony, but the official cause is still under investigation.
