OLLU professor: First presidential debate โa wild cardโ
SAN ANTONIO โ The first face off Tuesday between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden could be โthe most interesting presidential debate weโve ever seen,โ said Leda Barnett, Ph.D., who chairs the political science department at Our Lady of the Lake University. Barnett said the controversial timing of the newest Supreme Court nominee and revelations about Trumpโs tax returns are the backdrop for the first of three presidential debates. โThese are the things we want to know.โBut Barnett said sheโs worried about the possibility of personal attacks by Trump on Biden and whether the Democrat will โtake the bait,โ detracting from a debate about the issues. โI wouldnโt believe everything I hear," she said. Instead, Barnett said voters should fact check what they hear by using more than one respected, independent source.
These San Antonio businesses received millions of dollars in Paycheck Protection Program loans
SAN ANTONIO The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has released data regarding businesses that applied for Paycheck Protection Program loans and nearly 3,000 San Antonio businesses appear to have requested funds through the program. The list of organizations that received loans include businesses, nonprofit organizations and educational entities. All PPP loans are subject to SBA review and all loans over $2 million will automatically be reviewed, according to the press release. The Paycheck Protection Program resumed accepting applications Monday at 8 a.m. in response to the Paycheck Protection Program Extension Act. The new deadline to apply for a Paycheck Protection Program loan is August 8, 2020, according to SBA.gov.
Thomas Jefferson graduate Skyla St. Clair commits to play volleyball for OLLU
SAN ANTONIO Thomas Jefferson graduate, Skyla St. Clair, signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball next season for Our Lady of the Lake University on Saturday. Family, friends and coaches celebrated St. Clairs commitment with a ceremony in front of her familys home. The setter received 1st Team All-District honors the past three years and had success in soccer as well earning 2nd Team All-district honors two years in a row. St. Clair is also top 5 in her class and graduated with a 3.9 GPA.

SAN ANTONIO โ From the Rio Grande Valley, Octavio Quintanilla is now a professor at Our Lady of the Lake University. Last year, after writing for six years, Quintanilla's first book of poems was published, "If I Go Missing." This year will be the first year Quintanilla participates in the San Antonio Book Festival and thinks the event is great for the community. "People from San Antonio, have a chance to come and meet a bunch of great writers; writers that care about their craft, writers that care about the community."
