A Hondo man was taken into custody late last month on a felony possession of child pornography charge after a search warrant executed on a cell phone revealed explicit photos and videos of a child, arrest paperwork states.

HONDO, Texas โ Medina County Sheriffโs Office is requesting the publicโs assistance in locating a man who was last seen on March 7. The Medina County Sheriffโs Office says Jack Singleton Love, 74, was last seen in the 100 block of County Road 2624. The sheriffโs office said Love was last seen wearing a light blue fishing shirt and glasses. According to the sheriffโs office, Love may be in danger and has been without his prescribed medication since his disappearance. Medina County deputies and Texas Game Wardens have searched the property around Medina Lake connected to Love.

Rural Texas residents drive the distance for COVID-19 vaccines
Boerne Mayor Tim Handren said Kendall County received about 1,200 vaccines in early January, but they were used quickly. AdHandren says the state seems to give preference to hospitals, and Kendall County doesnโt have one. Itโs also about accessibility, and many in that community can drive to hubs like San Antonio for a vaccine. Kendall County will be receiving about 600 Moderna vaccines this week -- 400 for the city and 200 for the county. Yates says she got lucky taking a drive to San Antonio and getting a shot.

In the third week of COVID-19 vaccine allotments, 23,975 doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine will be sent to Bexar County hospitals, according to the stateโs health department. The Bexar County hospitals set to receive the shipments include University Health System, Christus Childrenโs Hospital of San Antonio and Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center, Methodist hospitals and the UT Health San Antonio clinic, Wellness 360. State health officials believe the vaccine will be offered to the general public beginning Spring 2021. Dozens of hospitals, urgent care clinics and H-E-B pharmacies in Bexar County are slated to receive 30,200 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week. Made by Moderna, the vaccine requires two doses like the already approved Pfizer vaccine. The Moderna vaccine was endorsed by a government advisory panel on Thursday in a 20-0 vote. Some rural areas that had been waiting for word on when they would receive shipments will be included in week 2, data shows. Last week, nearly 30,000 doses of the Pfizer-made vaccine were shipped to San Antonio-area hospitals and military bases.

Giant corn maze opening near San Antonio in September
HONDO, Texas โ This yearโs corn maze at South Texas Maize just west of San Antonio in Hondo is sending a message in celebration of its 20th anniversary. In previous years, the corn maze has paid homage to Texas-based grocery chain H-E-B and the beloved San Antonio Spurs. The maze, located at Graff 7A Ranch, will open for the season on Sept. 19 and is expected to stay open through Nov. 28. Hondo woman accused of sexual assault of runaway child
HONDO, Texas โ A 19-year-old Hondo woman has been arrested for sex crimes against a child after harboring a runaway for months, Hondo police said. Jennifer Lynn Alvarez,was arrested in November and charged with sexual assault of a child. She was released on a bond of $7,500, according to Medina County Jail officials. After further investigation, Alvarez was arrested by Hondo police again on Jan. 7 and charged with sexual performance by a child and harboring a runaway. She was released Jan. 8 on bonds totaling $30,000.
Missing Hondo teen found safe, family says
A 14-year-old girl who has been missing since October was found safe, her family confirmed. The girlโs father, Robert Garcia, confirmed the news to KSAT on Tuesday. Robert Garcia said she ran away after the two had an argument over her curfew. Bexar County Sheriff said Hondo police are working several leads in the case and have been working with the Texas Rangers and other agencies.
