The skulls are part of the official celebrations of Day of the Dead in San Antonio. Chef Johnny HernĆ”ndez, whoās spearheading the events of Day of the Dead across San Antonio, worked closely with city leaders, companies from Mexico and KSAT12 News to brainstorm how to celebrate in a safe way. The best option was to prerecord a river parade closed to the public. Paco EnrĆquez, technical director of El Volador, works with his team from Mexico to make sure every detail is taken care of ahead of Friday's river parade. āFor me, my favorite is the Aztec (barge) because it represents the crossing of the river of life and death,ā EnrĆquez said.

The dollās popularity inspired the company to start a new tradition at Barbie by introducing the 2020 edition of the doll. āWe wanted to make sure that the second Dia de Muertos Barbie was just as special as the first doll,ā Meabe said. Artists and designers from Barbie found ways to introduce new elements to the second doll while still keeping traditional aspects important to the Dia de Muertos celebration. The 2020 Dia de Muertos Barbie Doll is a Black Label doll and will retail for $75 in the online shop.
