Barrier-breaking Bexar County constable calls on new leaders to share representation message
SAN ANTONIO โ Bexar County Precinct 4 Constable Kathryn Brown knows what itโs like to break barriers, and she called Wednesdayโs presidential inauguration another milestone. Brown recently became the first Black woman ever to be elected as a Bexar County constable. Brown, who was sworn in earlier this month, credits civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr as an inspiration. Brown says leaders must share the message that representation is important. Just look at me and let that be your model that if she can do it, so can I,โ Brown said.
Precinct 2 fires former captain who was indicted alongside Barrientes Vela
SAN ANTONIO โ Michelle Barrientes Velaโs former captain was fired from the Bexar County Precinct 2 Constableโs Office Wednesday, weeks after he was indicted along with the former constable on felony and misdemeanor charges. Marc Garcia was terminated following a 10-day administrative leave, a Precinct 2 spokesman said.
