TLU women’s basketball bounces back with 64-43 win over Concordia University

The Bulldogs improve to 10-1 in conference play

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Lutheran University women’s basketball team sought a bounce-back win against Concordia University on Saturday after a shocking loss to McMurry University on Friday.

The Bulldogs started strong with three-point shooting, as Angelina Sotelo scored 14 points by finding her range.

New Braunfels High School alum Kailee Mulkey tied a game-high with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Bulldogs junior forward Sarahi Jones scored 16 points and achieved a double-double with 12 rebounds, helping TLU secure a 64-43 victory and get back on track with another conference win.

“It feels really good, you know, just being here since freshman year,” Mulkey said. “We’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but just know, at the end of the day, if we just work together, we come out.

“It’s always been in us; we just kinda had to find it, you know, and work to that, and now that we got that, I feel there’s no one that can stop us but ourselves.”

“This is by far my favorite year, no offense, but it’s just been super fun,” Jones said. “The chemistry feels like it’s there right now. Everybody’s clicking.

“We’re all bought in on the main goal again, so it’s been super fun this year, especially with the great start we’ve had, but we just gotta keep going and keep building on what we have going right now.”

The Bulldogs will have a break before hosting Trinity University on Feb. 7.
