SAN ANTONIO – It’s inevitable. San Antonio’s appeal as a destination for NBA players is significantly boosted by having a talent like Victor Wembanyama on the roster.

Even players who have yet to play in an NBA game are declaring the Spurs a dream franchise to be drafted by — like potential No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA draft — A.J. Dybantsa.

“I think Victor is just ridiculous; the things he does are just crazy,” said the nation’s No. 1 high school player. “I just think we would’ve been a crazy duo. Now, the odds of that happening are very slim. But I mean, it was just a thought that came up in my mind when he got drafted. But you never know.”

You never know. Similar to how you don’t know who will be the next NBA star drawn to the opportunity to play alongside San Antonio’s gem.

With the 2025 NBA trade deadline fast approaching, the online discourse is in full force, and one report on Tuesday may have connected certain dots to a potential destination for Sacramento’s star point guard.

ESPN’s Sham Charania’s report suggests that Fox does have a target destination in mind, especially with the Kings considering trade talks before he becomes a free agent in 2026.

It was then reported that the ideal landing spot is with the Spurs.

Kings reporter James Ham attributed multiple sources when reporting San Antonio would be Fox’s target destination.

Fox’s admiration for Wembanyama adds weight to the speculation that he might want to join the Spurs.

“He’s a special player, extremely special player,” said Fox in a past interview of Wemby. “When he’s rolling, you have to be under him because if they throw the ball up, there’s literally nothing you can do.”

While the validity of Ham’s report is uncertain, Fox’s agent, Rich Paul, latest conversation shows that Fox is looking for a change.

As the trade deadline approaches, it will be interesting to see how these discussions evolve and whether the Spurs will indeed become Fox’s new team.
