Medical Examiner’s identifies man fatally shot on Southwest Side, death ruled as homicide

The shooting happened in the 3400 block of Nogalitos Street

SAN ANTONIO – A male was fatally shot on the Southwest Side, according to officials.

Medical Examiner’s identified the man as 24-year-old, Andre Montera.

Officers responded to the shooting just before 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 3400 block of Nogalitos Street.

Montera was initially taken to a hospital after he was shot, according to the San Antonio Fire Department. He died in the hospital.

The medical examiner has ruled his death as a homicide and says he died from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

While it was initially unclear what led up to the shooting, San Antonio Police found upon further investigation that the victim was at the location to pick up his girlfriend, who was staying with the suspect at the time.

According to a preliminary report, an argument ensued, and the suspect shot Montera then fled the scene, police said.
