2 dead in shooting over cell phone dispute at Northwest Side repair shop, SAPD says

Shooting happened in the 11800 block of Bandera Road

SAN ANTONIO – Two men were fatally shot during a dispute over a cell phone at a Northwest Side store, according to San Antonio police.

The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 11800 block of Bandera Road, not far from Loop 1604.

Police said a man, later identified as 47-year-old Kenneth Mark McKnight Jr., entered the business unsatisfied with the service done to his phone and confronted an employee.

A verbal argument between McKnight and the employee escalated, and McKnight began to assault the employee, police said.

McKnight pulled out a gun and shot the employee, according to police.

That employee, identified to KSAT as 35-year-old Cody Bell by a friend, died at the scene.

In self-defense, another employee at the business pulled out his firearm and shot McKnight, police said.

McKnight died at the scene.

Police said the employee who shot McKnight was cooperating with officers.
