SAN ANTONIO – A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested for shooting a pedestrian following an altercation downtown, according to San Antonio police.
The shooting happened around 3 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of East Commerce Street.
Upon arrival, police found the pedestrian, described as a 22-year-old man, lying on the ground.
Police said the suspect and the 22-year-old man were involved in a verbal argument on the road.
The argument escalated after the pedestrian started “banging” on the suspect’s vehicle, according to police.
Police said the suspect ultimately shot the pedestrian and drove off only a couple hundred feet, where officers located him.
The suspect was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, SAPD told KSAT.
Police said the pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
