Seguin PD: Road rage shooting suspect caught with gun, ammo and drugs in hotel room

SEGUIN, Texas – Authorities arrested a suspect who had been on the run for a road rage shooting on New Year’s Day, according to Seguin police.

Shiye Fuentes, 19, was taken into custody on Jan. 31 for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, police said.

The charge stems from a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting in the 800 block of San Antonio Avenue.

The Seguin Police Department’s Case Unit and the New Braunfels Police Department’s Street Crime Unit obtained information that Fuentes was staying at a hotel in New Braunfels.

The New Braunfels Police Department’s SWAT Unit executed a search warrant and arrested Fuentes without further incident, Seguin police said.

Authorities seized a handgun, ammunition and illegal drugs after searching through Fuentes’ hotel room, according to police.

Fuentes was booked into Guadalupe County Jail with a $175,000 bond, police said.
