SAN ANTONIO – Two new pedestrian bridges opened at Pearl this week, marking the latest step in a larger expansion plan that aims to double Pearl’s footprint.

The bridges, which were unveiled on Wednesday, span across the San Antonio River and connect the current Pearl area to upcoming developments on the West Side, according to a news release.

“These bridges are crucial elements in Pearl’s strategy to improve walkability and accessibility,” said Bill Shown, CEO of Oxbow Development Group, emphasizing the importance of connectivity to the Tobin Hill neighborhood.

Brewmeister’s Bridge, a 105-foot painted steel structure with western red cedar decking, is located between The Cellars and Hotel Emma.

The bridge will link Pearl district to a planned 166-room hotel and ground-floor commercial space including two restaurants, according to the release.

Cooper’s Bridge features a 165-foot bowstring truss design and connects the Coopers Row apartment building to the Pullman Market area.

“The bridge openings mark a significant milestone in Pearl’s ongoing development, which includes new residential units, public plazas, retail spaces, and hospitality offerings,” the release says.
