SAN ANTONIO – As a shooting at a North Side apartment complex began to subside early Thursday, state and local lawmakers took to social media to express their sympathies.

San Antonio police officers were called to an apartment complex in the 18700 block of Stone Oak Parkway on Wednesday for reports of a suicide in progress.

SAPD Chief William McManus told reporters during a press conference around 10 p.m. that four officers were shot while responding to the call.

In an update on SAPD’s Facebook hours later, McManus said that number jumped to seven. All of the officers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

As of 12:25 p.m. Thursday, six of those officers were released from the hospital. The seventh officer who is still in the hospital is expected to make a full recovery, according to a SAPD page.

SAPD identified the suspect as 46-year-old Brandon Poulos in a preliminary report on Thursday. It is unclear whether Poulos died by suicide or was killed by police and SWAT officers.
