SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police and Crime Stoppers are seeking information on the shooting death of a man on the West Side.
Officers responded to the shooting in the 100 block of Paso Chico Alley around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Jason Huizar was found on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was later pronounced dead.
Huizar was involved in some type of disturbance with two people before the shooting, according to police.
Police had arrested someone who matched a description of the alleged shooter who ran from the scene. However, the person was being held on an unrelated warrant and had not been charged in connection with the shooting, according to an SAPD police report.
SAPD said the shooting was the city’s first homicide of the year.
