Baby found in Whataburger toilet will be laid to rest this week

Funeral services will be Jan. 24 at Faith Outreach International, public is invited to attend

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Baby Mary, who was found in a Whataburger toilet last month, will be laid to rest on Friday.

The public is invited to attend Baby Mary’s funeral at the Faith Outreach International located at 3806 Sunshine Ranch Road at 1 p.m., according to the Eagle’s Flight Advocacy and Outreach.

The burial will follow at the Resurrection Ceremony.

“We are honored to lay Baby Mary to rest alongside some of the other abandoned infants that we have respectfully given peace to. We are thankful for the partnership with Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and Medical Examiners office,” said Pamela Allen, CEO of Eagle’s Flight Advocacy and Outreach.

Mallori Patrice Strait, 33, was arrested after attempting to flush Baby Mary down a toilet at a Whataburger restaurant, according to an arrest affidavit.

Law enforcement officials said Strait entered a Whataburger in the 7700 block of FM 78 around noon on Dec. 19 and stayed in the lobby until 2 p.m. before entering the restroom.

Strait remained in the bathroom for hours, continuously making noises inside a stall before a manager provided her with water, according to the affidavit.

The manager eventually called the police out of concern for the woman’s well-being after telling Strait she needed to leave.

Bexar County deputies arrived and began questioning the woman, who was not cooperative. They detained Strait at the scene while the Converse Fire Department responded.

Deputies informed emergency responders there was human-like material found in the restroom.

Strait and the child were transported to a downtown hospital, where Baby Mary was pronounced dead.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner has yet to rule the exact cause and manner of death.

Strait faces a charge of abuse of a corpse, the affidavit says.
