Search underway for missing teen last seen in west Bexar County

Mekayla Alvarez used a ride-share application to travel to an unknown location, deputies say

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance from the public to locate a missing teenager.

Mekayla Alvarez, 14, was last seen around 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, in the 2100 block of Red Rock Crossing in west Bexar County.

Alvarez is 5 feet tall and weighs around 145 pounds, according to the sheriff’s office. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

The sheriff’s office said Alvarez also has a scar in the middle of one of her eyebrows.

BCSO said Alvarez was last seen wearing red pajama pants, a blue tie-dye shirt and shoes.

Alvarez left her home without permission and used a ride-share application to travel to an unknown location, deputies said. She has not been seen since.
