The couple’s son told KSAT that candles and a space heater caused the fire.

The son said his mother and stepfather live at the home. He said he learned about the blaze when he received a call from someone who said his childhood home was on fire.

The son said that his mother told him the fire started inside the home while the couple was asleep. The couple exited the house uninjured, but the flames spread throughout the house and into the backyard, the son said.

At this time, the extent of the home’s damages is unknown.

This is a developing story. This article will be updated as more information becomes available.
