SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified two pedestrians who were struck and killed by multiple drivers while attempting to cross U.S. Highway 90 on the Southwest Side.

Officials said Marie Cabotaje, 41, died from blunt force injuries, and David Stevens, 20, died from cranial cerebral injuries.

Both Cabotaje’s and Stevens' deaths were ruled an accident, according to officials.

The crash happened just before 5 a.m. on Saturday in the 6600 block of U.S. Highway 90 eastbound, which is located near West Military Drive.

According to police, Cabotaje and Stevens tried to cross the highway in an area where pedestrians were not allowed to do so. SAPD said the first driver traveling eastbound could not get out of the way in time before hitting both.

Similar to the first driver, officers also said a second eastbound driver could not get out of the way before striking one of the two victims a second time.

Cabotaje and Stevens were found unresponsive in the roadway and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said both drivers remained at the scene when officers arrived. In Saturday’s report, SAPD said no charges are expected to be filed against the drivers in the case.
