21-year-old man stabbed multiple times inside Paper Tiger along St. Mary’s Strip, SAPD says

Police say the suspect was taken into custody

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police arrested a man in connection with a stabbing inside a popular music venue along the St. Mary’s Strip.

Authorities identified the suspect as 36-year-old John Guerrero on Saturday afternoon.

Officers said they were dispatched to a stabbing call just after 10 p.m. Friday at Paper Tiger, which is located in the 2400 block of North St. Mary’s Street.

When SAPD arrived, officers said they found a 21-year-old man outside the venue’s entrance with multiple stab wounds throughout his body.

According to investigators, Guerrero and the victim were inside the venue when they got into a physical altercation. During the fight, Guerrero pulled out a knife and stabbed the 21-year-old victim at least two times.

SAPD did not reveal how many times the victim was stabbed.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital but is expected to recover from his injuries.

During its investigation, San Antonio police said witnesses pointed out Guerrero, who remained at the venue. Guerrero, who police said had a knife with him, was taken into custody without further incident.

Guerrero has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.
