SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE on 12/25/2024: The Bexar County Medical Examiner identified a man who police said was shot and killed during an argument in the driveway of a home west of downtown.
Gabino DeLaCerda, 53, died from a gunshot wound to his abdomen, the ME’s office determined. Officials ruled his death a homicide.
DeLaCerda was shot in the midst of an argument that escalated after he refused to leave a man’s property, according to San Antonio police.
SAPD told KSAT that the shooter was cooperating with their investigation. No arrests have been made.
ORIGINAL STORY: A homeowner shot and killed a 53-year-old man during an argument in the driveway of a home west of downtown, according to San Antonio police.
The shooting happened just after 7 p.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of San Fernando Street.
Authorities said the homeowner — who police said was acquainted with the unidentified man — called the police.
Upon arrival, SAPD said officers found the man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound in his chest, according to an SAPD preliminary report.
The homeowner and the man got into an argument, which turned into a physical altercation after the man refused to leave the home, SAPD said.
Police said the homeowner eventually fired a gunshot at some point during the argument, and the man was struck at least once in his chest.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, SAPD said.
Authorities said the homeowner is cooperating with SAPD’s investigation.
Currently, police said no arrests have been made, but the investigation remains ongoing.
