Woman dead after car catches fire in single-vehicle crash on Northeast Side, SAPD says

Police: Victim is believed to be in her 40s or 50s

SAN ANTONIO – A woman died after she rolled her vehicle, pinning her inside, according to San Antonio police.

The crash occurred at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes of Loop 410 near the exit for Austin Highway.

A preliminary report from SAPD on Tuesday afternoon said the woman took the Austin Highway exit at a high rate of speed before losing control.

The vehicle hit several barriers before it caught fire, according to police.

San Antonio firefighters extracted the woman from the vehicle, where she was pronounced dead by EMS officials, police said.

The woman is believed to be in her 40s or 50s.

The exit ramp to Austin Highway had been closed for several hours but had since opened as of 6 a.m.
