Active scene at East Side home cleared by San Antonio police

Officers cleared assisted living home, and no weapon was found

San Antonio police are working an active scene near the 800 block of South Pine Street on the East Side. (KSAT)

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have cleared an active scene on the East Side, according to an SAPD officer.

The incident happened at a home near the 800 block of South Pine Street. Officers responded around 4 a.m. Tuesday.

SAPD was initially told there was potentially a man inside the home with a gun holding people hostage, the officer said.

The home was used for assisted living, and the caller was believed to be a caretaker at the house, according to police.

Police removed the occupants from the house and, with the help of hostage negotiators, cleared the rest of the area inside.

No one inside the home was found to be armed, according to police.
