SAN ANTONIO – A road-rage incident on the South Side led to the death of a 48-year-old suspect following a road rage incident at the Poteet Flea Market over the weekend, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The two vehicles involved in the incident collided around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday on the Southeast Loop 410 access road just before Roosevelt Avenue.
Police said two groups argued at the flea market, but it was unclear what sparked the disagreement.
Eventually, the groups left the flea market in separate vehicles, but a road-rage incident followed.
Police said the 48-year-old man purposely bumped into the other group’s vehicle multiple times.
Despite several attempts by the other group to switch lanes and escape, the suspect attempted a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) maneuver, causing the vehicles to become stuck together and roll over, according to SAPD.
Officers arrived to find the victims and the suspect being treated by emergency medical services, according to SAPD.
The 48-year-old man, who was the only person in one of the vehicles, was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to SAPD.
The victims, a 38-year-old man and his two children, ages 9 and 14, were taken to the hospital, SAPD reported. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
