DALLAS – A Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader opened up about her alopecia at Monday’s football game.
Armani Latimer, a fifth-year cheerleader, did not wear a wig for the first time this season.
Cowboys writer Clarence Hill Jr. posted this statement on his social media: “Congrats and much respect to Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Armani Latimer. She revealed she had alopecia on the Cheerleaders Netflix show America’s Sweethearts. She had been wearing a wig all season but performed bald for the first time during Monday’s game between the Bengals and Cowboys.”

Latimer posted a reel on Instagram of her performance and her fellow cheerleaders hyping her up when she got visibly emotional beforehand.
According to an article from Women’s Health, Latimer was diagnosed with alopecia areata at the age of 12, eventually causing her to lose all of her hair. The National Alopecia Areata Foundation website said this is a common autoimmune disease that results in sudden hair loss in different areas of the body.
She was inspired to go “wig-free” for the game on Monday as part of My Cause My Boots night.
“I figure that if I can overcome my negative self-talk and self-defeating mindset, I can help change the experience for the next 12-year-old who gets diagnosed. She can start healing early instead of waiting until she’s 23, like me,” Latimer said to Women’s Health. “There’s so much societal pressure that comes with being a woman—we don’t need more."
