Man killed after crashing car into tree on far South Side, police say

Crash happened around 10:40 a.m. in 10800 block of South Zarzamora

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his 20s was killed after he crashed his car into a tree on the city’s far South Side late Sunday night, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened around 10:40 p.m. in the 10800 block of South Zarzamora Street, not far from Loop 410 and the Texas A&M San Antonio campus.

According to police, the man was traveling northbound on South Zarzamora at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility pole. The car stuck and wrapped around a tree, police said.

A passerby found the vehicle and called for help. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man has not yet been identified.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
