Man shot in backside during altercation on Southwest Side, police say

Incident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. in 5300 block of Hillburn Drive

SAN ANTONIO – A man in his 30s was taken to an area hospital after being shot on the city’s Southwest Side late Monday night, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were called just before 10:30 p.m. to the 5300 block of Hillburn Drive, not far from Old Pearsall Road after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, the man was shot in the backside during an altercation with another man. The victim ran towards Old Pearsall Road, where he called for help. The shooter fled and has not been found.

SAPD said the man shot possibly knew the suspect. It is unclear exactly what the fight was about.

The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he’s expected to recover.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
