Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting of his wife in Kerrville

Couple’s children were inside home at time of shooting

SAN ANTONIO – A Kerrville man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of his wife.

According to the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 1:45 a.m. to the 100 block of Corbin Circle for a report of an injured person.

When the deputies arrived, they found a 36-year-old woman with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Ana Marie Puente Ortiz, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where she later died, KCSO said.

Based on evidence recovered at the scene and an interview with the victim’s husband, a murder warrant was issued for his arrest. Isidro Arias-Benitez, 33, was arrested and booked into the Kerr County Jail on a charge of murder. His bond was set at $500,000.

The couple’s minor children, who were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, are currently under the care of a family member pending an investigation by Child Protective Services.

A motive for the shooting is not currently known.
