NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Where is Caleb Harris? That’s the question Harris’ family and authorities are asking after the 21-year-old was reported missing on March 4.
“We’re holding up well,” Becky Harris, Caleb’s mother, said Thursday. “We have had so much prayer and support, and that is really what is moving us forward, so we’re hopeful to see him still.”
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi student from New Braunfels was last seen one month ago Thursday at his off-campus apartment on the 1900 block of Ennis Joslin Road.
According to the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Facebook page, this is the preliminary timeline of events.
“At approximately 12:56 am on Monday, March 4th, a doorbell camera at a nearby apartment captures Harris, his friend, and one of Harris’s roommates in the parking lot playing with a puppy belonging to the girlfriend of one of Harris’s roommates,” the Facebook post said. “Nothing appeared out of the ordinary, and the three young men returned to Harris’s apartment. Their mutual friend departed shortly thereafter. At approximately 2:20 am, the second of Harris’s two roommates informs Harris that he (the roommate) is going to bed. Harris replies that he is going to stay up to order snacks via Uber Eats for his school lunch later that day (Monday). At approximately 2:44 AM, Harris shares a Snapchat video with his younger sister that depicts Harris walking the puppy through what appears to be the apartment complex parking lot. At approximately 3:03 AM, Harris sent another Snapchat photo to a high school friend currently residing in San Antonio. The photo depicted a small bridge over a drainage ditch on the 1900 block of Ennis Joslin, within a few hundred feet of the entrance to his apartment complex. At approximately 3:12 AM, Harris’s cell phone last shared location data with the nearest cell phone tower.”
“I have thought about it a lot,” Harris said. “I have no idea what happened, but I feel strongly that he was taken.”
Family, friends and strangers filled parks in both New Braunfels and Corpus Christi in dual vigils on Thursday night.
The family’s goal is to increase their power of prayer. The vigils started at the same time, as did the prayers.
“Caleb, you fight with everything you have to get home to get into the light,” Harris said. “Everybody knows who you are. Find somebody and get home.”
The Harris family is now offering a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to Caleb’s safe return.
