In the Dec. 14, 2024, Schertz election, no candidate in the race met the majority threshold of votes to win the seat.

Dusek, a self-employed consultant, earned 29 percent of the vote, which is more than the other four other candidates in the Dec. 14, 2024, race.

Guerrero, a contract specialist, came in second with 22 percent of the vote.

In September 2024, Tiffany Gibson, who won the seat in 2023, resigned from her Place 4 seat on the Schertz City Council due to health and family reasons.

Gibson’s resignation came after the deadline to file for the Nov. 5, 2024, election, prompting a special election on Dec. 14, 2024.

The special election has since led to a runoff election between Dusek and Guerrero set for Saturday.

The winner of Saturday’s election will serve the remainder of the term, which expires in 2026.

KSAT will update this story as the City of Schertz officials release election results Saturday night.

Schertz voters can vote from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Schertz Community Center. The center is located at 1400 Schertz Parkway.
