DALLAS โ A Dallas school district is investigating a high school English teacher who asked students to write about a modern-day hero and listed the 17-year-old accused of killing two people during Wisconsin protests as one possible option. The writing assignment also listed Joseph Rosenbaum, one of the protesters Rittenhouse is accused of killing; along with Mahatma Gandhi, Cรฉsar Chรกvez, Malcolm X and George Floyd. The Dallas Independent School District did not release the name of the W. T. White High School teacher who assigned the report. The teacher whose name was listed on the assignment did not immediately return KTVT-TV's request for comment. SAN ANTONIO โ Nearly a quarter of all employees at San Antonioโs largest school district who applied to work remotely this school year amid COVID-19 concerns were denied, according to district figures provided to the KSAT 12 Defenders. Northside Independent School District officials defended the large number of denials, claiming they took โgreat careโ in giving employees the chance to seek medical waivers for the 2020-2021 school year. Out of 1,150 employees who submitted applications to work remotely, 278, or 24% of them, were denied, NISD records show. Kerrville teacher arrested for 'invasive visual recordingโ of a student
KERRVILLE โ A Kerrville teacher was arrested and charged with invasive visual recording, after allegedly taking improper photographs of one of his students, according to Kerrville Police. Jimmy Lee McElhaney, 36, was arrested Dec. 27 in Palmer, a community south of Dallas. Police said the investigation started after someone reported that McElhaney took improper photographs of a student during class at Grace Academy. McElhaney is currently out of jail on bond, which was set at $60,000. Kerrville police said the investigation is โstill active" and said theyโre investigating whether there are more victims.
