WASHINGTON (AP) โ President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump paid their respects to the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Thursday, joining thousands who are remembering a prophet for justice who persevered against long odds to become an American icon. The president and the first lady attended the viewing outside the Supreme Court just before 9 a.m., when they were met with chants and boos from the crowd. Throughout Wednesday, thousands of people paid their respects to the womenโs rights champion and leader of the courtโs liberal bloc. As darkness fell, the line stretched nearly half a mile from the court as people filed past. Trump and Senate Republicans are plowing ahead with plans to have a new justice on the bench, perhaps before the Nov. 3 election.

WASHINGTON โ President Donald Trump says he expects to announce his pick for the Supreme Court on Friday or Saturday, after funeral services for Ruth Bader Ginsburg. He told โFox & Friendsโ on Monday that he had a list of five finalists, โprobably four,โ and that he is pushing for a confirmation vote before Election Day. Trump disparaged reports that Ginsburg had told her granddaughter it was her wish that a replacement justice not be confirmed until the inauguration of a new president. Trump said he thought his Democratic political foes were behind the report, including Rep. Adam Schiff, who led the House impeachment probe, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer..โI donโt know that she said that, or was that written out by Adam Schiff and Schumer and Pelosi," Trump said. But that sounds like a Schumer deal or maybe a Pelosi or Shifty Schiff.โ his nickname for the California congressman.,
Some Bexar County residents hope next Supreme Court justice is selected after election
San Antonio โ The community gathered at the Bexar County Courthouse steps for a vigil honoring the justice warrior who Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was before her death. โNotorious RBG to me was a voice for the voiceless,โ said Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez, a judge in Bexar County. She taught me that even if you have a smaller voice, you are not voiceless.โโShe was a good and faithful servant,โ said Stephanie Boyd, another judge for Bexar county. โShe was respected as a very thorough justice,โ Kauffman said.
