A group of street racers, believed to be from San Antonio, shut down parts of an Interstate Highway 35 access road, doing donuts and blocking traffic. Officers arrived at the parking lot of the Bexar County Academy around 11 p.m. Monday and reportedly found more than 100 cars gathered there. Police say the drivers had been racing and doing maneuvers, such as drifting and spinning, in the parking lot, located near Bandera Road and Hillcrest Avenue. Some drivers also hurled raw eggs at the officers, hitting one sergeant and several patrol cars, police said. Police say this was the second crackdown of the night on street racing.
