Man killed in East Side shooting identified
SAN ANTONIO โ A man is dead following a shooting on the cityโs East Side late Monday night, San Antonio police said. According to police, officers arrived to find the man -- identified as 51-year-old Dietric Van Harrington Jr. -- with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Police said they originally believed the Van Harrington was dead, but when EMS arrived they said he was still alive. Investigators say they found gunshots on the front of a nearby home, but werenโt sure if they were recent and connected with the shooting. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.
SAFD increases care options on 911 medical calls
SAN ANTONIO โ The San Antonio Fire Department traditionally has not had much flexibility when responding to 911 calls for medical assistance. But after the San Antonio City Councilโs approval on Tuesday, SAFD will be able to get reimbursed for using the Emergency Triage, Treat and Transport model, or ET3, on medical calls beginning Jan. 11. Though itโs aimed at Medicare Fee-for-Service patients, SAFD will provide the same options to all 911 callers. Unlike a typical video chat, though, SAFD says GoodSam can measure the callerโs vitals. SAFD says the GoodSam app also allows its firefighters to cut down on potential COVID-19 exposure.
Medical examiner identifies man killed in South Side hit-and-run
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Medical Examinerโs Office has identified a 65-year-old man that was killed in a South Side hit-and-run on Wednesday evening. Horacio Ramirez was fatally struck by a pickup truck as he tried to cross the street in the 200 block of Moursund Boulevard around 8 p.m. Witnesses told police the driver of a white pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit Ramirez and then continued driving east on Ashley Road. Ramirez was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center by EMS where he later died, police said. Officers are still looking for the driver of the truck, and if found, the driver will face charges of failing to stop and render aid, police said.
San Antonio firefighters donate their own blood to save lives
SAN ANTONIO โ Theyโre the first on the scene at major trauma events and this weekend, San Antonio firefighters, EMS and police officers were the first in line to give back to the community by donating blood. Conrad Gonzales, a retired San Antonio firefighter, felt he needed to step up when he heard that the South Texas Blood and Tissue Centerโs blood supply continues to be at an all-time low, due to the pandemic. โI thought, you know, letโs get the firefighters (and) make this, like, a first annual first responder blood drive,โ Gonzales said. โFor the month of September, we were down a little over 4,000 units (of blood),โ Cracraft said. Man, 36, fatally shot at East Side home, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A 36-year-old man was fatally shot at a home on the cityโs East Side early Thursday morning, San Antonio police said. According to police, officers arrived to find an unresponsive man wounded from a gunshot on the front doorstep of the home. The wounded man was taken to an area hospital by EMS, where he later died. Investigators said no one was found inside the house, but that they discovered additional shell casings inside. While canvassing the neighborhood officers located the victimโs vehicle still with the engine running.

SAN ANTONIO A pedestrian who was hit and killed by a driver in a pickup truck late Tuesday night has been identified. Pablo Paul Hernandez, 42, died of blunt force injuries sustained in the incident before 11 p.m. in the 1000 block of Culebra Road, not far from North Zarzamora Street and Cincinnati Avenue. According to police, Hernandez was walking across Culebra Road in a crosswalk but was against the pedestrian signal when he was struck by a pickup truck traveling eastbound. The driver of the pickup truck continued eastbound and failed to stop and render aid, police said. Hernandez was taken to University Hospital by EMS, where he later died.

Search continues for missing 25-year-old man who may have drowned in Canyon Lake
COMAL COUNTY, Texas The search for a missing 25-year-old man who may have drowned at Party Cove in Canyon Lake is still underway by Comal County officials. The search for Rodriguez began Saturday, July 4th, and Rodriguez was last seen at 4 p.m., according to the CCSO. Moments later, deputies, game wardens and Canyon Lake Fire staff and EMS began searching the area. Anyone with more information on Rodriguezs whereabouts is urged to contact the Comal County Sheriffs Office at 830-620-3400. Two people in critical condition after apparent drive-by shooting on West Side, police say
SAN ANTONIO Two people are in critical condition after an apparent drive-by shooting on the citys West Side late Monday night, San Antonio police said. Officers were called around 9:30 p.m. to the intersection of South Zarzamora and Aztec Alley after receiving reports of gunfire. According to police, the victims were shot while inside a vehicle during what appears to be an ambush. Investigators say gunfire was exchanged and that one person has since been taken into custody for questioning. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.
Driver clipped by passing vehicle after crash into median, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A driver involved in a crash was taken to an area hospital after they were hit by a passing vehicle on Loop 410, San Antonio police said. According to police, the driver hit a guardrail just before spinning out into the median. Police said the second vehicle lost control and spun after hitting the man. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call. There was no word on the condition of the second driver.
Officials: 5 hurt in early morning shooting in Texas capital
AUSTIN, Texas At least five people were wounded in an early morning shooting in Texas' capital, officials said Sunday. Five adults with serious, potentially life threatening injuries were taken to local hospitals by Austin-Travis County EMS, the organization said in a tweet. The shooting took place around 3 a.m. in a commercial area of downtown Austin, according to tweets from EMS and Austin police.
