The State Fair of Texas, which is open until Oct. 20, has a new batch of Big Tex Choice Awards Winners and Finalists. Join David Elder as he takes us on a food tour to try out all the new bites.

DALLAS You know that old adage dont mess with Texas? Well, this time it applies to our famous state fair food. For the first time in the 134-year history of the State Fair of Texas - instead of a fair theres going to be a drive-thru food event. The coronavirus pandemic has put a kibosh on tons of events this year, like Fiesta and Wurstfest just to name a few, but in lieu of the annual 24-day exhibition, the State Fair of Texas is hosting a one-of-a-kind drive-thru experience. The drive-thru is expected to take 90 minutes once you enter the gate at Fair Park in Dallas. Fletchers corny dog, a State Fair favorite, will be on the menu at all Golden Chick restaurants through October 25.

All things cowboy will return home to Big Tex Circle, Big Tex himself will even wear a face mask, so, no excuses. A special Big Tex photo-only Drive-Thru experience will open on Sept. 19 and 20. The Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru will operate Fridays through Sundays during the originally anticipated dates of this years State Fair of Texas, as well as Monday, October 12: September 25-27, October 2-4, 9-12, 15-18. Tickets for the Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru go on sale starting September 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. on BigTex.com.
