AUSTIN, Texas ā One of the co-founders of Alamo Drafthouse is auctioning off nearly 2,000 ārare and highly sought-after hand-silkscreened, limited edition prints,ā according to the movie theater chain.
Items from the auction, which kicks off at 5 p.m. on Nov. 29, are coming directly from Alamo Drafthouse co-founder and executive chairman Tim Leagueās collection.
Founded in Austin in 1997, the cinemas have been facing financial hardship as a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will be used to pay Alamo Drafthouse staff and the debt that has accrued from the cinema closures.
The auction, which will close on Dec. 13, will also include āthe largest and most comprehensive auction of Mondo prints ever,ā according to Alamo Drafthouse.
