Nick Mantas joined the KSAT 12 Sports team in 2023. 

“I’m so excited to be a part of such a talented sports department in such a wonderful sports market,” he said. 
 
Before working for KSAT, Nick freelanced as a sports reporter in San Antonio and was a sports anchor for iHeart Radio. He broadcasted sports updates to 18 cities across the country on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  

Nick came to the Alamo City from Lansing, Michigan, where he was a weekend sports anchor/reporter for WLNS-TV for three years. While in Michigan, he got the opportunity to cover Michigan State and the University of Michigan, as well as the talented local high school sports teams of Mid-Michigan. 

The dedicated work that the sports department at WLNS-TV won the 2020 & 2021 Best Sports Award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press of Michigan's 2020 & 2021 Best Sports Coverage Award and the 2022 Best Sports Broadcast Award for their Friday night high school football shows.
 
Before traveling to the frigid tundra that is Michigan, Nick began his sports reporting career at KTXS in Abilene as a weekend sports anchor/reporter. During his year in Abilene, Nick got to cover the Abilene Christian University men's basketball team's first trip to the NCAA tournament while getting a full dose of high school football in West Texas. 
 
Nick earned a Master's Degree in Sports Media from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism and an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Arizona. 
 
During his years at the University of Arizona, Nick interned as a strength and conditioning coach for the football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and tennis teams. His coaching included athletes who have succeeded on the professional level including Rob Gronkowski (NFL), Nick Foles (NFL), Nick Johnson (NBA), Aaron Gordon (NBA), T.J. McConnell (NBA), Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (NBA), and Madison and McKenna Witt (AVP Sand Volleyball).
 
After graduation, Nick accepted a strength coaching internship at the University of San Francisco where he coached for the 2014-2015 season. While in the Bay Area, Nick got interested in TV production and began working part-time for the PAC-12 Network as a runner and utility.

He then worked for the PAC-12 Network for two years, becoming a replay operator, stage manager, and camera operator in the PAC-12 Network studio before attending Northwestern to pursue a career in front of the camera. 
 
Nick grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, and is an avid fan of Boston sports teams. In his spare time, Nick likes to master new recipes in the kitchen, destress by lifting heavy weights in the gym, enjoys walking down the San Antonio riverwalk with his girlfriend, and is a big fan of brunches.
