SAN ANTONIO – Coming off a huge Southland Conference win against Houston Christian University last weekend, the UIW women’s basketball team earned back-to-back SLC victories with a 52-43 win over the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Thursday night.
The Vaqueros had a familiar face on their roster. Former Johnson High School guard Ja’Shelle Johnson was back in her hometown and prepared to put on a show.

In the second half, the game quickly became “The Destiny Whitaker Show.”
Whitaker scored a team-high 12 points to help the Cardinals earn the win.
UIW will host Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. Saturday.
