SAN ANTONIO – While wildfires continue to burn in Los Angeles County and Southern California, the San Antonio Spurs will reportedly restart their road trip on Monday night.

ESPN NBA reporter Dave McMenamin posted on his X, formerly known as Twitter, account that the Los Angeles Lakers will “resume their season Monday against the San Antonio Spurs.”

The Spurs' schedule originally had them in Southern California to face the Lakers on Saturday, Jan. 11, and again on Monday, Jan. 13 as part of their four-game road trip.

However, on Friday, the ongoing wildfires forced the NBA to postpone Saturday’s Spurs-Lakers game at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles and the Charlotte Hornets-Los Angeles Clippers game at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

In a subsequent story published Sunday afternoon, ESPN reported that the league notified the Lakers and the Clippers that both of their schedules would resume on Monday night.

The Clippers will face the Miami Heat in their regularly scheduled home game at 9:30 p.m. on Monday.

What remains unclear is when the Spurs' game against the Lakers, originally scheduled for Jan. 11, will be played. The Clippers' future with their Jan. 11 game versus Charlotte is also undetermined.

According to ESPN’s report, the Spurs arrived in Santa Monica and checked into their team hotel early Thursday morning. A few hours later, the team switched reservations to a downtown Los Angeles hotel out of an abundance of caution, the report stated.

San Antonio (18-19, 12th in the Western Conference) played its most recent game on Jan. 8 against the Bucks in Milwaukee, the second game in the franchise’s three-city road trip.
