BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Bexar County sheriff’s deputies said they arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly shooting Tuesday in northeast Bexar County.
Keylow Ken Kimenker, 19, was charged with murder, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday.
BCSO said it responded to a shooting just after 8:15 a.m. Tuesday near Chipping Drive and Oldham Drive.
A witness told investigators that they saw Kimenker firing a weapon at a silver-colored van from behind the 8000 block of Chipping Drive before running toward Quail Hill Street.
First responders arrived on the scene and found the victim sitting in the van that crashed into a wooden fence behind the 8000 block of Chipping Drive, BCSO said.
BCSO Criminal Investigations Division (CID) investigators said they found signs of gunfire and spent shell casings at the scene.
The victim, who authorities said was shot at least once in the chest, was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim was later identified as 40-year-old Paul Bussell.
The witness told investigators that Kimenker and Bussell had a prior dispute.
The sheriff’s office said that Kimenker was out on bond for a previous tampering evidence charge and was prohibited from possessing firearms.
On Tuesday afternoon, BCSO said it detained and later arrested Kimenker at a residence in the 7000 block of Oldham Drive.
Investigators found a pistol with an extended magazine in the vehicle and later uncovered clothing matching Kimenker’s description, deputies said.
When Kimenker was transported for questioning, he denied shooting Bussell to authorities.
He was booked into the Bexar County jail. According to court records, a Bexar County judge set Kimenker’s bond at $750,000.
Authorities said their investigation remains ongoing.
