NATALIA, Texas – A Natalia ISD employee has been terminated after an investigation into a severe threat of violence against his coworker, according to district officials.
The district’s board of trustees voted unanimously to fire Dr. Marshall Myers on Jan. 31, 2025, according to a press release posted to Facebook Monday.

“Natalia ISD is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment for all employees and a positive learning environment for all students,” the district said. “Threats of violence have no place in the workplace, and the District will take swift and decisive action to protect the safety and well-being of its staff and students.”
Threat made in September 2024
The alleged threat happened on Sept. 26, 2024, after a meeting.
Myers allegedly looked at a district employee and said, “If anybody kills my son’s college record, I’m going to kill you all,” according to the release.
The district employee he directed the comment toward felt their safety was in danger. A second district employee also heard the threat, the release said.
When Natalia ISD learned about the threat, it immediately placed Myers on administrative leave with pay and opened an investigation.
Myers placed on administrative leave in 2023
The press release said this was not the only time Myers had been put on leave. A similar incident happened in January 2023 for an unnamed reason by a former superintendent.
Myers was also found to not be compliant with following the superintendent’s directives, according to the press release.
Trustees vote to terminate Myers
Natalia ISD said that when the Board of Trustees met, they voted to terminate Myers.
Myers then requested a termination hearing before an Independent Hearing Examiner (IHE).
According to the Texas Education Agency (TEA), a teacher can request a hearing after receiving notice of a decision to terminate before the end of their contract period at any time.
The IHE held hearings for this case on Jan. 8, 9 and 10, the release said.
The IHE released its findings on Jan. 31, 2025. It found Myers' threats to be credible and Natalia ISD to have supportable evidence for its decision.
The press release said the IHE recommended Myers' termination be finalized, which the Board of Trustees voted in favor of in a 5-0 vote.
