Police said Juan Manuel Yanez, 47, called 911 to report that he had shot and killed his wife.

Upon arrival on the scene, officers entered an apartment unit and located 43-year-old Victoria Valadez with a fatal gunshot wound, police said.

Yanez was involved in a relationship with Valadez, but San Marcos police said it was unclear whether they were married.

After the shooting, Yanez fled from the scene in a silver 2009 Chevrolet truck. San Marcos police then requested assistance from the public on social media to track Yanez down.

Yanez was later taken into custody after deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office found him in an area he frequently visits, police said.

According to authorities, Yanez is currently in jail on a $100,000 bond.
