SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County jury sentenced a man to 50 years in prison on Thursday for a pair of child sex crimes, according to a press release from the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.

Isaac Benavidez, 30, was sentenced in the 290th District Court to 50 years in prison on a charge of continuous sex abuse of a child and 13 years for indecency with a child by sexual contact. The sentences will run concurrently.

Due to the charges, Benavidez is required to register as a lifetime sex offender, the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office stated in the news release.

Authorities responded to a call on July 4, 2018, where the victim’s mother reported an incident involving Benavidez and a 7-year-old child.

An investigation into Benavidez uncovered additional instances of sexual abuse that were ongoing for more than a year.

The district attorney’s office said a continuous sex abuse of a child charge carries a sentence of 25 to 99 years or life in prison without parole.

An indecency with a child by sexual contact charge can carry between a two and 20-year prison sentence.
